Are you passionate about solving complex engineering problems? Do you have a knack for investigating and understanding the root causes of structural failures? Our national engineering and consulting firm is looking for a Forensic Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your engineering skills and knowledge to a variety of challenging projects. You will be working on the analysis and investigation of structures that have suffered damage due to storms, natural disasters, fires, explosions, or construction/design defects. This is a unique opportunity to combine your passion for engineering with your interest in forensic investigation. You will work from home and travel extensively throughout your territory, so a valid drivers license is required, along with being someone who enjoys travel both locally and nationally as needed.

Responsibilities:

As a Forensic Structural Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

1. Conducting on-site investigations to document and evaluate damage to structures due to various causes including storms, natural disasters, fires, explosions, and construction/design defects.

2. Performing forensic engineering investigations and structural analyses of various building systems and components.

3. Preparing technical reports that clearly and concisely explain findings and provide expert opinions.

4. Communicating effectively with a diverse group of professionals including attorneys, insurance adjusters, and property owners.

5. Testifying in court as an expert witness when necessary.

6. Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Forensic Structural Engineer position will have the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is required. A Master of Science in Structural Engineering is highly desirable.

2. Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).

3. A minimum of 2 years of experience in forensic engineering, structural design, or related field is required.

4. Experience in investigating and evaluating structural damage caused by storms, natural disasters, fires, explosions, and construction/design defects is required.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audience.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

8. Willingness to travel for on-site investigations and court appearances.

9. Proficiency in the use of engineering software and technology for analysis and design.
