This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys developing teams, solving problems, and turning food safety standards into consistent manufacturing practices. Your work will help protect consumers, support operational performance, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Lead daily food safety and quality assurance activities across manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, customer requirements, and internal standards.

Maintain and improve HACCP plans, GMP programs, sanitation controls, and other preventive food safety measures.

Support GFSI-recognized certification programs, including SQF, and maintain audit readiness through accurate documentation, verification activities, and timely corrective actions.

Supervise, coach, and develop FSQA team members, setting clear expectations and promoting accountability and a strong food safety culture.

Partner with Engineering and Maintenance to assess equipment design, repairs, installations, and process changes for hygienic design and food safety risks.

Verify sanitation effectiveness through inspections, testing, and review of cleaning procedures and records.

Investigate product nonconformances, customer complaints, and food safety incidents; conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

Review production records, monitor quality and food safety trends, and communicate risks and improvement opportunities to plant leadership.

Coordinate internal audits and support external audits, regulatory inspections, traceability exercises, and mock recalls.

Deliver training on HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and food safety procedures to support consistent execution across shifts.

Qualifications

5+ years of relevant experience in food safety and quality assurance within food manufacturing or a comparable regulated manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience, with the ability to coach employees and coordinate priorities in a fast-paced operation.

Practical knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety, manufacturing controls, GFSI requirements, SQF systems, and sanitation programs, or equivalent standards and methodologies.

Experience conducting inspections, supporting audits, managing documentation, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Ability to collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Sanitation teams to resolve process and equipment-related food safety concerns.

Strong root cause analysis, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience considered.
