Job Details

The Functional Lead will provide direction to functional and technical project members and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define and document detailed business requirements, solutions, and integrations related to the applicable project. The Functional Lead will drive subsequent project phases including testing, training and communications support activities related to project implementations.

Team Leadership
  • As appropriate, provide direction and oversee work product quality for project analysts and SMEs
  • Monitor progress and prioritize competing priorities for the functional workstream; work with the Project Manager to adjust the schedule, approach, and resources as needed
  • Act as key liaison with Nursing, Timekeeping, Human Resources, Accounting, and Information Services stakeholders to execute project deliverables and guide them through the system development lifecycle
  • Ensure decisions regarding requirements and design are best fit to the organization’s needs
  • Facilitate team communications, including regular check-ins

Functional Design
  • Participate in all project phases, including requirements, fit/gap, configuration build, testing, conversion strategy, and stabilization.
  • Lead and participate in targeted analysis sessions, produce Decision Documents, provide advice on specific issues, and verify the quality of deliverables for the future state process design
  • Own configuration decisions and tasks in partnership with the Technical workstream
  • Triage complex issues across multiple systems to gather required data for future state configuration and business process needs
  • Advise stakeholders on options, risks, and cross-functional impacts on other processes or downstream systems
  • Translate complex issues into easy-to-understand explanations to stakeholders

Communication
  • Convey information and ideas concisely and in an engaging manner that helps the targeted audience understand and retain the message
  • Share knowledge to improve implementation methodology and progress
  • Report clear status to project management, including priorities, issues, and risks promptly
  • Build confidence and trust with department leaders

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of nine (9) years of related experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus five (5) years of related experience supporting ERP implementations
  • Experience with the UKG Kronos system for timekeeping and/or scheduling
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry
  • Experience leading teams
  • Demonstrate skill in analyzing information and procedures, understanding up and downstream impacts, defining problems and objectives, formulating logical and objective conclusions, and recognizing alternatives and their implications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with staff, administrators, and leadership
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Experience with documenting functional requirements, design specifications, and test plans
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • Experience working in a large, complex healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of university staff personnel policies and collective bargaining agreements related to, or having an impact upon, time and attendance functions
  • Experience with implementing or upgrading a Timekeeping System or Nurse Scheduling System
  • Experience using Promapp or other business process management software
  • Experience using Smartsheet or other work management platform
