Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Conducting detailed geotechnical and geological investigations to understand the soil and rock properties on a site and how they may impact a construction project.
- Analyzing and interpreting data from geotechnical investigations to provide recommendations on design and construction.
- Providing geotechnical design input for foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and other structures.
- Working closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure that geotechnical factors are adequately considered in design and construction processes.
- Preparing geotechnical reports, drawings, specifications, and presentations.
- Conducting onsite inspections and supervising drilling and sampling activities.
- Monitoring conditions on construction sites to ensure compliance with geotechnical specifications and safety standards.
- Providing technical advice and solutions to challenges that arise during construction.
- Keeping up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in geotechnical engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's Degree would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Geotechnical Engineering, with a strong focus on Soil Mechanics.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Proven experience in conducting geotechnical investigations and providing design recommendations.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of construction principles, techniques, and regulations.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex geotechnical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
