Job Details

We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician to join our team. This role involves hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, and operational oversight of geotechnical equipment, predominantly in offshore settings with occasional office-based tasks. No relocation is necessary.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of geotechnical equipment both on-site and in-office, with a primary focus on soil sampling and testing apparatus. This includes ensuring proper equipment setup and installation prior to project commencement.
Operational tasks will be conducted under the guidance of the Lead Geologist or Field Project Manager.
Tracking and recommending the procurement of consumables and spare parts necessary for the upkeep of assigned equipment.
Suggesting equipment modifications or procedural adjustments to enhance operational quality and safety.
Participation in training programs, both on and off-site, to enhance technical knowledge and skill set relevant to the assigned equipment.
Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years of pertinent work experience aligned with the demands of the role.
Demonstrated experience in marine environments is essential.
Proficiency in deck operations, including equipment deployment and retrieval, is required.
Familiarity with the operation of deck cranes and winches is advantageous.
Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols during marine operations and adherence to industry-standard HSEQ guidelines.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair capabilities are a must.
Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and repair is desirable.
Experience with troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems is beneficial.
Specific expertise in the maintenance and repair of geotechnical equipment, such as CPTs and vibracores, is highly preferred.
Proven track record of collaborative teamwork.
Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively, exhibiting critical thinking and initiative.
Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.
The role requires frequent travel, approximately 50% or more, to marine survey projects within the US and internationally.
Candidates must have authorization to work in the US and possess a valid state driver's license.
