Position Overview
A midsize law firm is seeking a litigation associate with 3–5 years of experience to support its Government Contracts practice. This role focuses on advising and representing clients on complex federal contracting matters, while also offering exposure to other practice areas as interests align.
Key Responsibilities
Handle litigation matters involving government contracts, including:
Bid protests
Contract claims and performance disputes
Terminations (default and convenience)
Provide counsel on federal regulatory compliance and contracting requirements
Advise on and assist with matters involving:
False Claims Act issues
Organizational conflicts of interest (OCI)
Procurement integrity and ethics regulations
Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda
Conduct legal research and case strategy analysis
Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups as needed
Manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
3–5 years of litigation experience, preferably in government contracts
Active bar admission in at least one of the following: District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, California
Strong academic background
Excellent legal writing and analytical skills
High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities
Billable Expectations
1,800 annual billable hours
200 non-billable hours required
Credit toward billable target includes:
Up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work
Up to 25 hours of approved diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
