We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to join our Denver team. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in heavy civil construction, possessing a keen ability to manage multiple projects and bids effectively. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of the construction industry, particularly heavy civil projects. The Heavy Civil Estimator will play a key role in developing competitive bids, creating and managing budgets, and conducting subcontractor comparisons.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, incorporating materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements.
2. Review and evaluate cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness, manage potential risk factors, and maximize profitability.
3. Conduct thorough subcontractor comparisons, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to project specifications.
4. Develop and present competitive bid proposals to clients, highlighting the value and benefits of our services.
5. Collaborate with the sales team, project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
6. Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring all deadlines are met and that each project is progressing as planned.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, cost fluctuations, and competitor strategies.
8. Review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and availability of materials.
9. Participate in negotiations and discussions with vendors and subcontractors.
10. Experience with Bridge, Utilities, Roadways, and/or Earthwork projects.
11. CDOT experience desired.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating and sales.
3. Proven track record of developing successful bids and managing large-scale budgets.
4. Proficiency in estimating software and tools, MS Office Suite, and project management software.
5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
6. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
7. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
9. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and industry trends.
10. Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) certification is a plus.
