Responsibilities:

As a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty construction equipment, ensuring they are in excellent working condition.
2. Performing routine maintenance on diesel trucks and other construction equipment to prevent future breakdowns and ensuring their longevity.
3. Inspecting and testing malfunctioning equipment to diagnose the cause of breakdown and planning work procedures using charts, technical manuals, and experience.
4. Dismantling and reassembling equipment using hoists and hand tools.
5. Examining parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
6. Testing overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
7. Welding broken parts and structural members using electric or gas welders.
8. Directing workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
9. Demonstrating continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this exciting role, you should possess the following:

1. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role in the construction industry.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and diesel truck maintenance.
3. Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) and ability to coach others in their use.
4. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos, including blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
6. Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and reach.
7. Good verbal and written communication skills.
8. A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
9. Completion of a formal training program in diesel engine, heavy equipment mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
10. Certifications from recognized technical schools or manufacturers will be a plus.
