Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Horizontal Directional Drill Operator/Locator, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Operating horizontal directional drill in accordance with blueprints and designated plans.
  • Reading and interpreting utility locates to identify and avoid damaging existing utilities.
  • Setting up and operating drilling equipment including drill rig, water tanks, and grounding machine.
  • Maintaining accurate bore logs, documenting drilling activities and equipment used.
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring all equipment is safe and in working order.
  • Managing onsite safety at all times, including the safety of all crew members.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to drilling operations.
  • Coordinating with project managers and other team members to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Horizontal Directional Drill Operator/Locator position will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the Engineering industry.
  • Proven experience with utility locates, setting equipment drill, water tanks, grounding machine, bore log, and pre and post trip equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in the drilling industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding manual labor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. A degree in a relevant field will be considered an advantage.
