DESCRIPTION:
Provides administrative and technical assistance to Plant Manager. Is familiar with all Human Resources related policies and procedures and gives advice and takes action when necessary. Prepares documents and directly handles highly confidential information. Provides leadership and guidance to production supervision relative to Human Resource issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists in the hourly hiring process including applicant tracking for EEO compliance; interview scheduling; prescreens applicants for hourly positions; participates in interviews as necessary; and ensures all proper paperwork is complete prior to actual hire.
  • Recommends, advises, and implements personnel policies and procedures as needed; assists with maintaining member handbook; performs benefit administration to include claim resolution, change reporting.
  • Takes the lead in managing the HRIS and timekeeping system and tracking of member attendance on a daily basis, processes and checks all paperwork pertaining to member transfers, change in job classification, and pay increases.
  • Ensures effective member relations on a daily basis, provides support to supervisors and team leaders in handling member concerns and assist in the resolution of member concerns through problem resolution.
  • Coordinates and participates with plant supervision and management in disciplinary and termination proceedings involving members.
  • Ensures that company employment, safety, labor relations, and personnel practices comply with applicable provisions of federal and state laws, including maintenance of necessary files.
  • Answers routine inquiries from inside and outside the company on employment verifications, benefits claim processing, and job openings in line with company policy on these matters.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel, summer hires, and temporary employees; oversees contact with the temporary agencies; and conducts new member orientation.
  • Prepares for and attends all unemployment hearings.
  • Assist with administration of wage and salary policies and increases; notifies supervisors of scheduled performance reviews (as needed).
  • Additionally, responsible for administering first aid, referrals for medical treatment by Physicians, log injuries as necessary. Purchase supplies as needed, monitor plant Drug Free Workplace Policy and Employee Assistance Program.
  • Performs other duties with the Human Resource Department as required, including composing and typing correspondence regarding HR reports and procedures.
  • Maintains member personnel files in line with company policy.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
  • Tactful, above average interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively with both members and managers.
  • Ability to convey a positive and professional image to applicants and members.
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Access); working knowledge of HR/ time keeping software.
  • Ability to perform independently, accurately, and effectively in high traffic environment.
