Job Details
We’re looking for an HVAC Controls Technician to design, program, install, and troubleshoot building automation systems in various environments, from labs and manufacturing facilities to office buildings. This role involves working with HVAC equipment, low-voltage controls, and communication protocols to optimize facility performance and energy use.

- Design HVAC control layouts, create drawings, and select instrumentation and control devices.
- Program controllers, databases, and HMIs to ensure efficient and precise system operation.
- Generate reports, historical profiles, and trend logs as required.
- Integrate and interface equipment (VFDs, chillers, boilers, etc.) using BACnet or Modbus.
- Install and upgrade control systems, connecting them to facility-wide automation networks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve communication and control issues, including alarms, schedules, and trend logs.
- Diagnose, repair, and calibrate sensors, controllers, and actuators.
- Work closely with customers, contractors, engineers, and management.
- Assist with third-party commissioning and provide training to customers and junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial automation, or a related field OR 5+ years of relevant experience in HVAC controls programming, installation, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of commercial networked HVAC control systems.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with BACnet and Modbus communication protocols.
- Solid understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, including hot/chilled water systems, DX and VRF systems, boilers, and VAV systems.
- Valid Utah driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a Department of Defense background check for facility and IT system access.
- Knowledge of networking and interface protocols for data-sharing across devices.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC control system design, programming, and networking.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose both mechanical and controls-related issues.
