Job Details

In this role, you are highly organized and focused on timeliness, accuracy, and enhancing financial processes. You demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with leaders, managers, and staff to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain official financial records in compliance with legal and organizational standards
  • Review, update, and develop internal control systems to ensure effectiveness and risk mitigation
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards
  • Prepare and review accounting entries as needed
  • Oversee account reconciliations including bank, investment, payroll, and various internal systems
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements
  • Manage procurement and lease compliance processes
  • Lead the annual external audit process and provide timely updates throughout the year
  • Oversee preparation and filing of Form 990 and other tax documentation
  • Monitor banking relationships, financing agreements, and covenant compliance
  • Ensure PCI compliance for payment processing systems
  • Support cash flow management and financial forecasting
  • Manage systems and documentation related to contracts and vendor relationships
  • Develop and track financial KPIs and strategic performance metrics
  • Collaborate on business model evaluations and modifications
  • Prepare reports and materials for finance committee meetings
  • Lead and hold the finance team accountable to strategic and departmental goals
  • Promote a results-oriented, goal-based leadership approach across the department
  • Foster inclusive leadership and build strong, diverse teams
  • Hire, coach, and manage direct reports in alignment with organizational HR practices
  • Conduct regular performance check-ins and annual reviews
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • CPA certification required
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, including supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, cost control, financial systems, and applicable regulations
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting and financial reporting preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Familiarity with internal controls, tax compliance, audit processes, and banking operations
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management, and strategic planning capabilities
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
