Inpatient Medical Coding Specialist

Ou client is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Permanent Inpatient Medical Coding Specialist to join our technology-driven healthcare team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your specialized coding skills in a technologically advanced environment, where you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting patient medical records, assigning codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of coded data. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the development of strategies and systems to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, PCS, and other codes for diagnoses and procedures in inpatient medical records.
• Review and interpret medical information to ensure accurate coding.
• Use electronic health record (EHR) systems to access patient information and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable coding guidelines and regulations, including AHIMA standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify and obtain documentation for incomplete medical records.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy and completeness of coded data.
• Provide training and guidance to other coding staff as needed.
• Participate in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
• Stay current with the latest developments in medical coding and healthcare technology.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in inpatient medical coding.
• Certification from AHIMA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, or CIC is required.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, PCS, and other coding systems.
• Experience with EHR and other electronic health record systems.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
