Job Details
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Insurance Broker Underwriter & Analyst. As an Insurance Broker Underwriter & Analyst you will be responsible for performing mathematical analyses, underwriting, marketing, and renewal analyses to provide clients, teams, and leadership with financial findings and conclusions. The ideal candidate will have a Life, Accident, and Health License from the State of California.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and prepare accurate and timely reports and analysis to provide financial guidance and influence clients' decisions in achieving strategic goals.
Gather benefits information from various sources, develop Request for Proposals (RFPs) templates, coordinate carrier responses, input data, and maintain documentation. Prepare draft presentations for clients and team leadership.
Request, analyze, and negotiate renewals for all lines of coverage for Health & Welfare plans.
Conduct plan/benefit change analysis, including self-insured feasibility, CDHP feasibility, and funding analysis.
Analyze client strategy and cost containment initiatives, making recommendations where appropriate.
Perform detailed technical work and communicate effectively with clients through reports and models.
Assist in preparing Rate Development Templates, RFP analysis, and templates for all lines of business.
Prepare and review monthly clients' financial reports and plan performance monitors.
Collaborate with underwriting/analysts, sales, consulting, health management, and leadership teams.
Develop benchmarking reports by gathering health benefits data and comparing a client's plan information to other companies by industry or geography.
Demonstrate project management skills, ensuring quality and timely client deliverables, participating in client calls and meetings, and delivering clear and concise client-friendly communications.
Travel to client sites as required, maintaining a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Skills/Competencies:
Possess advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to overcome obstacles.
Work effectively cross-functionally and at all levels, both independently and in a team environment.
Think critically, analytically, and creatively to provide comprehensive financial analyses and ad hoc projects.
Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritizing work effectively and meeting deadlines.
Plan, organize, and prioritize work independently with minimal supervision.
Drive and influence projects from start to finish, working with minimal oversight and little or no authority.
Work independently and travel to client sites as required, including flexible hours.
Qualifications:
Life, Accident, and Health License from the State of California is required.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as finance, mathematics, or actuarial science) is preferred.
Prior experience in insurance underwriting, financial analysis, or related fields is highly desirable.
Strong proficiency in mathematical and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while handling complex data.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
