Investment Tax Role
Key Responsibilities:
Management Reporting: Prepare and present status reports for management review, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all communications. Supervise daily activities of the tax staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance and productivity.
Staff Development: Train tax staff on workpaper preparation and processes, fostering a culture of continuous learning. Conduct performance evaluations and participate in review sessions to support career development and skill enhancement.
Client Service: Ensure high-quality service delivery to clients by overseeing the work of all employees on client accounts. Address complex client requests and consult with the Tax Manager II as needed to resolve tax issues efficiently.
Monitoring Deliverables: Assign and track departmental progress on various deliverables, ensuring all internal deadlines are met. Regularly review and manage the work of tax staff throughout the year to maintain workflow efficiency.
Income Tax Provision: Review the Fund income tax provision, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and clearing audit points to maintain accuracy and transparency.
Security Analysis: Prepare and review investment security analyses, collaborating with the Financial Reporting and Fund Accounting Teams to ensure comprehensive evaluations and clear audit points.
Income Tax Allocations: Review income tax allocations to partners, analyze special allocated items, and evaluate the application of management and incentive fees to ensure equitable distribution.
Structural Analysis: Consult with and train team members on fund structures to accurately assess investor requirements, enhancing overall service delivery.
Reportable Transactions: Review footnotes prepared by staff, including UBTI, ECI, and state sourcing, ensuring compliance and accuracy in reporting.
Tax Planning: Review tax estimates for the Funds and assist clients with investor inquiries. Analyze fund structures to optimize tax strategies and set up meetings with the operations group to identify key issues and improve information flow.
Workflow Management: Plan, schedule, and manage daily workflows for assigned relationships, ensuring seamless integration of new clients into the tax process, including system setup and administrative needs.
Risk & Control: Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and assist the Tax Manager in maintaining departmental and company standards. Seek opportunities to enhance existing controls and mitigate risks associated with tax processes.
