General requirements:
  • 10+ years of Electrical and Controls experience with designing control systems & power distribution for industrial gas processing facilities.
  • 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. An active professional engineers (PE) license is preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical expertise and support to all projects.
  • Build, maintain, and enforce standard processes and procedures
  • In coordination with project managers, manage department resources
  • Provide regular training and mentoring to department employees
  • Support sales team proposal efforts
  • Review work completed by dept. to verify accuracy, completeness, and
adherence to standards
  • Participate in facility design reviews
  • Review all major/technical purchase orders
  • Facilitate a continuous improvement program
  • Ability to understand, lead, and manage the department in completing
the following activities:
o Develop electrical deliverables for all phases of a project
including: conceptual design, preliminary design, and detailed
design.
o Engineer and develop the design of facility power distribution
systems from the electric utility interface point.
o Engineer and design PLC based control systems.
o Engineer and design of miscellaneous electrical systems such as
lighting, grounding, electrical heat tracing, etc.
o Develop typical electrical engineering and design drawings such
as: single line diagrams; power, lighting, grounding, control
panel and other systems plans; electrical area classification
plans; electrical equipment arrangement plans; cable tray
layout plans and sections; conduit and cable schedules; motor
control schematics.
o Develop typical electrical specifications such as: electrical
equipment (MV/LV switchgear, MCC’s, power transformers,
standby/backup generators, UPSs, etc.); electrical installation –
general requirements, and testing.
o Develop typical electrical databases/spreadsheets such as:
motor and electrical load lists; panel schedules.
o Develop typical electrical calculations such as: load flow studies;
voltage drop calculations; lighting calculations; short circuit and
protective device coordination analyses; arc flash calculations
and label creation.
o Manage third party electrical engineering firms to meet key
project deliverables. Back check their work.

  • Support company in proposal work and project estimating.
  • Participate in the development of electrical construction bid packages.
  • Participate in procurement activities associated with electrical & control
systems equipment. Procurement activities include preparing technical
data for inquiry packages, preparing technical bid evaluations, and
review of vendor drawing and document submittal reviews.
  • Support project construction efforts by providing support through
meetings, RFI, and occasional site visits.
  • Perform inspections of electrical installations and electrical equipment
for conformance with engineering documents, equipment
specifications, and safety standards.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for electrical systems and
equipment on industrial gas processing facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering and design practices including
drawings, specifications, codes, building materials and costs, and
construction techniques.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, and applicable electrical Codes as well as
applicable Industry Codes and Standards (e.g. IEC, ANSI, IEEE, ISA).
  • Experience in facility control system design &voltage power distribution
and the preparation of electrical equipment and systems procurement
and installation specifications.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team of
engineers and designers on multiple, concurrently executed projects.
  • Good organizational and communication skills. Expresses ideas concisely
and clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions and honors commitments.
  • Proficient in the use of office personal computers, office networks, and
the Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Work is generally sedentary, sitting for long periods of time and
performed indoors
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Repetitious hand and finger dexterity to communicate via email and
cellphone
  • Extensive visual and auditory observation during work
Knowledge/experience with VFD’s and other motor control equipment required.
Knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes and standards, journeyman or master electrician license preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in the electrical industry is welcome & encouraged. This applicant will be required to have knowledge of all associated systems as described above.
