Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Welder / Shop Foreman to oversee daily operations in our fabrication shop. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising a team of 5 fabricators, ensuring quality welds, maintaining efficient production, and managing materials and equipment. The ideal candidate is proficient in MIG welding, able to pass an AWS-certified welding test, and has prior leadership experience in a fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a team of 5 welders/fabricators to meet production goals and deadlines
Perform MIG welding on a variety of materials with a high level of precision
Ensure all welds meet AWS standards and pass required weld tests
Manage daily workflow, assign tasks, and monitor quality and safety standards
Track and control material usage and shop inventory; assist with ordering supplies
Maintain shop equipment, tools, and welding machines, ensuring everything is in safe, working order
Collaborate with engineering and management to resolve technical issues and improve fabrication processes
Train and mentor team members to promote skill development and accountability
Enforce shop safety rules and promote a clean, organized working environment
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of MIG welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing setting
Proven experience in a supervisory or lead role
Must be able to pass an AWS-certified welding test
Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings
Experience with material planning and equipment maintenance
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and lead by example in a fast-paced environment
