We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers the flexibility of working remotely. The ideal candidate will have a medical background, be adept at reading medical records, and possess strong legal writing and research skills. Experience with FileVine software is a must. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist attorneys with case preparation, including gathering and organizing medical records, drafting pleadings, and conducting legal research.
2. Use FileVine software to manage case files, track deadlines, and coordinate communication between team members and clients.
3. Review and analyze medical records to identify pertinent information and potential issues.
4. Draft and edit legal documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
5. Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and provide accurate information to attorneys.
6. Coordinate with medical experts, witnesses, and other relevant parties to gather and verify information.
7. Provide administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings, managing attorney calendars, and handling client inquiries.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role.
2. Background or experience in the medical field, with a strong ability to read and understand medical records.
3. Proficiency in using FileVine software for case management.
4. Exceptional legal writing and research skills.
5. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
6. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and quality of work.
7. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other parties.
8. Ability to work independently in a remote setting, while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with the team.
9. Bachelor's degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a related field is preferred.
