We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Permanent Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our team of expert lawyers, providing comprehensive legal administrative support and contributing to the smooth running of our legal operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal administration, with a proven ability to manage complex tasks, meet tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
Responsibilities:
As our Legal Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting in the preparation of legal documents such as contracts, briefs, wills, pleadings, appeals, and real estate closing statements.
2. Managing and organizing legal correspondence, maintaining legal files, and tracking important case deadlines.
3. Conducting legal research and gathering relevant information to assist lawyers in their case preparation.
4. Drafting routine letters and other correspondence, and proofreading legal documents to ensure accuracy.
5. Coordinating appointments, meetings, and conference calls for the legal team, and interacting with clients, attorneys, and court personnel as needed.
6. Assisting with billing procedures, maintaining financial records, and tracking billable hours.
7. Ensuring compliance with legal procedures, court rules, and other regulations.
8. Providing general administrative support to the legal team, including answering phones, handling mail, and performing other clerical tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal assistant role or similar within the legal industry.
2. A thorough understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and legal document formats.
3. Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
4. Strong research skills, with the ability to gather and analyze information efficiently and accurately.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to proofread legal documents effectively.
6. Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software.
7. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
8. A proactive approach to work, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
9. A degree in law, paralegal studies, or a related field is preferred.
