Responsibilities:

As our Legal Billing Specialist, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1. Overseeing all aspects of billing for the firm, including the preparation, editing, and submission of invoices in accordance with firm and client policies.
2. Coordinating with attorneys and other staff to resolve billing issues, answer inquiries, and provide detailed explanations of billing procedures.
3. Managing collections, ensuring timely and effective follow-up on outstanding invoices.
4. Utilizing legal billing software such as LEDES, Tymetrix, Bottomline, and Lega Exchange to streamline and optimize billing processes.
5. Adhering to and enforcing firm write-off policies, ensuring all write-offs are properly authorized and documented.
6. Preparing billing reports and analyses for firm management, providing insights into billing trends, client payment patterns, and potential issues.
7. Participating in ongoing professional development activities to stay current on industry trends and best practices in legal billing.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in legal billing, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
2. Demonstrated proficiency with legal billing software, including LEDES, Tymetrix, Bottomline, and Lega Exchange.
3. Strong understanding of legal billing procedures and guidelines, including firm write-off policies.
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex billing issues to clients and staff.
5. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software and technologies.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate and resolve billing issues before they escalate.
8. A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
