Job Details
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Legal Secretary, you will be expected to:
1. Draft, edit and finalize legal documents, correspondence, and reports in a variety of formats, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
2. Assist with appellate briefings, including drafting, editing, and filing.
3. Manage case files and documentation using NetDocs and Compulaw.
4. Utilize CCC Macro Pro for document automation and workflow efficiency.
5. Support attorneys in law and motion practice, including drafting motions, conducting legal research, and preparing for court appearances.
6. Coordinate and manage attorney schedules, including arranging meetings, court dates, and travel.
7. Maintain a thorough understanding of the legal landscape within the natural resources sector to support case management and client services.
8. Liaise with clients, court officials, and other legal professionals in a professional and confidential manner.
9. Ensure all legal documentation is correctly filed and updated within the firm's case management system.
10. Perform other administrative tasks as required, including data entry, billing, and record keeping.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably within the natural resources sector.
2. Proven expertise in legal writing, appellate briefing, NetDocs, CCC Macro Pro, Compulaw, and Law and Motion Practice.
3. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
6. A paralegal certificate or equivalent legal education is highly desirable.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure.
8. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
9. A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
10. A thorough understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and legal document formatting.
