A bit about us:

We have an immediate opening for an experienced remote insurance defense or general liability attorney to our client's firm in Los Angeles. The opportunity is with a midsized firm that defends businesses and individuals for insurance defense, toxic tort, transportation litigation, products liability, medical malpractice, and catastrophic tort litigation claims.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of substantive insurance defense litigation experience. Since this is a remote role, we are seeking attorneys who are comfortable working autonomously and developing case strategies through all stages of litigation with significant experience in discovery and law and motion practice. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Independently manage cases from inception to close.
  • Attend case related conferences and meetings remotely.
  • Analyze client needs and opportunities, identify solutions, and develop case strategies
  • Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions.
  • Effectively communicate with partners, associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure client outcomes are achieved.

We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and experienced Permanent Legal Secretary to join our fast-paced legal team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role and possess a deep understanding of the legal industry. Responsibilities:

As a Permanent Legal Secretary, you will be responsible for:

1. Providing comprehensive secretarial support to the legal team, including preparing and editing legal documents and correspondence, maintaining attorney calendars, coordinating meetings, and managing client files.
2. Conducting legal research and preparing reports as required.
3. Liaising with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionals in a professional and courteous manner.
4. Managing the billing process, including preparing invoices, tracking payments, and resolving any billing issues.
5. Ensuring the confidentiality of all sensitive information and adhering to all legal and company policies and procedures.
6. Assisting with the preparation of court filings and managing the e-filing process.
7. Supporting the team with administrative tasks as needed, such as answering phones, managing mail, and maintaining office supplies.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the Permanent Legal Secretary position, you must possess the following:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department.
2. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and legal software applications.
5. A thorough understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and legal document formats.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, as well as clients and external contacts.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. A high degree of professionalism and discretion, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
9. A degree or certification in legal studies or a related field is preferred.
