What you will be doing:
Assisting with a docket involving Defense Base Act Claims. This practice involves the following:
providing legal analysis, the drafting of petitions and communications with clients, the Department of Labor and Opposing counsel
Review, analyze and summarize claims documents including medical records, incident reports and employment files.
Complete legal analysis of files to determine likelihood of recovery and recoverable amounts, identification of additional documentation necessary for recovery.
Participate in conferences with the Department of Labor to address issues pertinent to the resolution of files.
Communicating clearly and concisely with clients regarding the Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation claims
To be successful in this position you will need to possess:
Valid Law License (OR be awaiting Bar results)
Willingness to bill 165 hours per month (1980 hours annually)
Organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential
Willingness to learn a very niche part of the law
