Job Details
We are seeking a General Litigation Paralegal to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil litigation and a strong understanding of the litigation process. As a key member of the team, you will provide critical support to attorneys throughout the litigation lifecycle, from case initiation through trial and post-trial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in managing general litigation matters, including case intake, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
Draft, prepare, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and deposition summaries.
Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are filed and updated in a timely manner.
Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including document production, interrogatories, and requests for admissions.
Conduct legal research to assist attorneys in developing case strategies and preparing motions or pleadings.
Prepare and review exhibits, witness lists, and deposition summaries for trial preparation.
Assist in managing deadlines and ensuring timely compliance with court rules and procedures.
Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, and experts, keeping all parties informed of case progress.
Attend hearings, depositions, and trial proceedings as necessary to support the legal team.
Prepare and track case calendars, including filing deadlines, discovery deadlines, and court dates.
Provide administrative support to attorneys, including drafting correspondence, managing client communications, and maintaining billing records.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a paralegal in general litigation.
Solid knowledge of civil litigation (ideally insurance defense)
Strong drafting and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
Experience with case management software.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience working with a variety of litigation matters, including contract disputes, personal injury, real estate, employment law, or commercial litigation.
Familiarity with trial preparation and courtroom procedures.
Knowledge of electronic discovery and document management.
