Job Details
We are a dynamic and fast-paced law firm looking for a Permanent Litigation Paralegal specializing in Personal Injury (PI) and Discovery to join our growing insurance defense team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in legal assistance, legal document preparation, case management, medical records review, discovery, and trial preparation. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with excellent communication and organization skills, and a deep understanding of legal terminology and compliance. This role requires 5+ years of experience in the legal industry. Must have California litigation experience with a focus on personal injury insurance defense work, with familiarity with all aspects of discovery. The role is 100% remote.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage all aspects of the litigation process from the investigation, pleadings, and discovery to the pre-trial, trial, settlement, and appeal processes.
2. Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and other legal memoranda.
3. Coordinate and manage document production and review, including organizing documents, creating and managing databases, performing document searches and factual research.
4. Assist attorneys in the preparation for depositions, court appearances, and trial proceedings.
5. Ensure all court deadlines are met, manage case calendars, and coordinate with all involved parties.
6. Maintain detailed case files and update necessary information within the electronic filing system.
7. Facilitate communication and coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and other third parties.
8. Keep abreast of changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance in all activities.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably within the personal injury and insurance defense field.
2. Proficiency in document review, case management, drafting legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.
3. Strong knowledge of legal terminology, legal compliance, and electronic filing systems. Should also have experience obtaining, reviewing, and summarizing medical records.
4. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved institution is preferred.
9. Experience with trial preparation and courtroom assistance is a plus.
10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high standard of judgment and discretion.
