Responsibilities

As a Locum Pathologist, your key responsibilities will include:

1. Performing complex microscopic examination of cytology specimens and providing accurate interpretation of results.
2. Collaborating with clinical staff to provide consultative services regarding the appropriate and most effective patient diagnostic and treatment options.
3. Participating in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and techniques.
4. Ensuring compliance with quality control procedures and standards.
5. Providing expert advice to laboratory staff, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.
6. Participating in research activities and contributing to scientific papers.
7. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments in the field of pathology and cytology.
8. Participating in teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

1. Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
2. Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
3. Subspecialty training or experience in cytology is required.
4. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of pathology.
5. Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency in interpreting cytology specimens.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively work with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
7. Proficiency in using laboratory information systems and medical software.
8. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
9. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
10. Strong research skills with a track record of contributing to scientific literature.
