The ideal candidate will bring expertise in pediatric medicine, particularly in neonatal and pediatric critical care, and have a passion for providing high-quality care. You will work with a diverse healthcare team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for young patients, ensuring the best outcomes possible.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Locum Pediatric Hospitalist, you will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients, including diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries.
- Performing intubations (ETT/NT) and other complex medical procedures as required.
- Managing ventilation for neonates and other pediatric patients (neo-puff, newborn ventilation).
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Consulting with patients' families, providing information, education, and emotional support as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Interpreting X-rays and performing suturing of minor lacerations.
- Conducting circumcisions (preferred).
- Performing and interpreting UVC (umbilical venous catheter) and UAC (umbilical arterial catheter) placements.
- Managing needle pneumothorax and providing other critical interventions.
- Working within a Trauma Level 3 department.
Call Schedule:
- 24-hour call from 6am to 6am
- Call Ratio: 1:3
- Call Back %: 10%
- Phone Consults: 2-4
- Patients Seen: 0-3
- Admissions: 0-2
Qualifications:
- WI licensed or eligible for IMLC or ACT 10.
- Board Certified Pediatric Hospitalist or Pediatrician with hospitalist experience.
Certifications Required:
- ACLS (from AHA)
- BLS
- PALS
- DEA
Support Staff:
- 2 Registered Nurses (RNs)
- 1-2 Medical Assistants (MAs)
- 1-2 Office Staff
Additional Information:
- Patients per day: 16-18
- Beds in Department: 7
- Trauma Level: 3
- Credentialing Timeframe: 30-90 days
