Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments.
2. Interpret technical drawings and schematics to understand the specifications and requirements of the product.
3. Operate CNC machines, lathes, and Okuma machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
4. Understand the properties of different materials and how they affect the machining process.
5. Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
6. Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
7. Implement quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs.
8. Work with teams and independently to ensure the work area is clean, organized, and safe at all times.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing environment.
2. Proficient in the use of CNC machines, lathes, and Okuma machines.
3. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
4. Strong understanding of metal properties and machining procedures.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. A commitment to quality, safety, and productivity.
9. Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items.
10. High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset.
