Maintenance & Facilities Manager – Food Manufacturing
We are a leading food production company seeking a Maintenance & Facilities Manager to oversee the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of equipment, utilities, and facility operations at our manufacturing site. This leadership role is responsible for driving preventative maintenance strategies, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring a safe, compliant environment.
Position Summary:
This role manages all plant maintenance and facility-related functions, including supervising technicians, leading maintenance strategies, and implementing technical improvements. The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership experience, technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, and utility systems, and a strong background in continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all plant maintenance functions, including equipment reliability, facility upkeep, and contractor management
Drive continuous improvement through preventative and predictive maintenance programs
Manage maintenance scheduling using a CMMS, ensuring timely and accurate work order completion
Lead the development and implementation of 1-2 year departmental plans aligned with plant goals
Guide team development through mentorship, training, and performance management
Identify and resolve root causes of mechanical and operational equipment failures
Ensure safe, efficient operation of utility systems including HVAC, refrigeration, hydraulics, and electrical
Oversee capital project bids, vendor selection, and installation of new equipment
Monitor and improve KPIs such as OEE, downtime, and maintenance-related costs
Support health, safety, and regulatory compliance, including inspections and safety audits
Manage spare parts inventory and control storeroom expenses
Champion the use of modern technology (e.g., condition monitoring, automated controls) to improve equipment lifespan and performance
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, engineering, and safety teams
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing maintenance
Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and utility systems within a regulated food or consumer goods environment
Familiarity with TPM methodologies and preventive/predictive maintenance best practices
Knowledge of safety, quality, and compliance standards (GMP, OSHA, HACCP, etc.)
Experience managing budgets, vendors, and capital installations
Skilled in root cause analysis, CMMS systems, and inventory management
Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Work Environment:
Fast-paced production facility with exposure to food processing equipment and utility systems. Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required.
