Job Details
The Maintenance Manager role requires strong leadership skills, technical efficiency and a passion for continuous improvement. This role will report directly to the Plant Manager and will be responsible for a group of experienced maintenance technicians supporting 24x7 plant operations. The successful candidate will find a balance between strategic planning and daily firefighting while ensuring seamless communication. The primary goal of this role is to maximize uptime of all vacuum induction furnaces and supporting equipment. In addition, you will identify and implement solutions to drive additional productivity and uptime. The Maintenance Manager will view the Operations team as their customer to support production needs with a mindset of making overall operations a little better every day!
The Maintenance Manager will be measured on their ability to ensure Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks are done thoroughly and on-time to minimize downtime events. They will be measured on continued efforts to reduce downtime through new PMs and turn-around / sprint activities.

- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety standards and ensure all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain safety records and ensure the team is trained in safety protocols.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and staff. Assign daily tasks, provide guidance, and ensure adherence to safety protocols. Coordinate both class and practical training to help level team up.
- Maintenance Scheduling & Coordination: Plan and schedule maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations. Prioritize tasks based on urgency and production needs. Budgeting & Cost Control: Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget, ensuring that expenditures on parts, labor, and repairs are controlled and within financial guidelines.
- Proficient in capital project management and budgeting processes
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Supervise troubleshooting of complex equipment malfunctions and ensure timely and effective repairs. Oversee emergency repair situations as needed.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, equipment servicing, and supplies.
- Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement and management of spare parts and tools, maintaining optimal inventory levels to avoid downtime due to lack of supplies.
- Reporting & Documentation: Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to maintain records of maintenance activities, including service reports, maintenance logs, and inspections. Provide regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), the status of equipment, maintenance trends, and budget performance to the operations team and to senior management. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in maintenance practices, equipment, and facilities to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- - Knowledge of lean manufacturing and six sigma principles
- Adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations and safety protocols to ensure that work meets legal and regulatory requirements.
Desired skills & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, mechanical or manufacturing preferred Proven experience in maintenance and people management (>5 years), preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Proven experience with equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair
- Strong leadership, organizational, planning and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Must be available for on-call emergencies or irregular hours when needed
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% based on business need
- experience with vacuum induction furnaces in the manufacturing of superalloys
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial equipment
- Proficiency in a reputable maintenance management system (CMMS) (Limble, Maximo, Fiix) Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
- Experience of automation, and PLC troubleshooting and programming a plus.
- Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g. Certified Maintenance Manager, PMP, Six Sigma, Lean)
