Position Summary
The Maintenance Multi-Skilled Craftsman is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of facility equipment and systems. This position requires strong technical skills across multiple trades — including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation — along with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues in a safe and timely manner. The Craftsman plays a key role in maintaining plant uptime and compliance with all safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform repairs and maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the facility.
Retrieve and manage parts and materials from inventory or warehouse stock as needed.
Accurately complete and maintain work order documentation in the maintenance management system.
Reassemble, align, and adjust machinery to ensure optimal operation after repair or maintenance.
Conduct and document preventive maintenance (PM) activities on assigned equipment.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure a safe work environment during maintenance activities.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls, minimizing downtime and production disruption.
Assist with equipment breakdowns, major repairs, overhauls, and new installations as assigned.
Operate and test machinery to verify proper functionality after maintenance or repair.
Rebuild, maintain, and service pumps, valves, and other mechanical systems.
Adjust controls, settings, and valves on plant equipment to maintain performance specifications.
Maintain effective communication with supervisors, maintenance teams, and operations personnel.
Conduct routine facility inspections to identify and correct potential issues.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and electronic components.
Maintain and operate plant support systems such as compressed air, HVAC, and water treatment equipment.
Maintain personal hygiene and professional appearance appropriate for an industrial work environment.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, industrial electronics, or mechatronics preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance required.
Basic computer skills and the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation of maintenance activities.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex equipment failures.
Familiarity with maintenance management software (CMMS).
Commitment to safety compliance and continuous improvement.
Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, handling, and reaching; occasional sitting, bending, or kneeling.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
Must have normal vision, hearing, and tactile senses to safely operate equipment.
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, respirators, or protective suits as required.
Work Environment
Work performed in industrial and production areas with moderate to high noise levels.
Exposure to varying temperature and humidity conditions and potential contact with chemicals.
Tasks may involve lifting, carrying, or pushing heavy materials and working in confined spaces in accordance with OSHA standards.
Must be available for on-call assignments and occasional overtime or irregular hours to respond to plant needs.
