Senior Facilities & Maintenance Technician
Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Facilities & Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of facility infrastructure and critical utility systems within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment and building systems, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring all maintenance activities meet applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with established maintenance procedures and work instructions.
  • Support quality and compliance processes by participating in investigations, corrective actions, change management activities, and documentation related to maintenance and facility operations.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and utility system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain and repair facility infrastructure and utility systems including HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, boilers, air handling equipment, water purification systems, compressed gas systems, building automation controls, lighting, access control systems, and other building support equipment.
  • Assist with planning and execution of facility shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with operations, quality, engineering, contractors, and other internal stakeholders to support production schedules and facility readiness.
  • Perform general facility maintenance utilizing multiple skilled trades including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Safely handle compressed gas cylinders and follow all applicable safety procedures related to hazardous materials and facility operations.
  • Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup of new equipment and facility systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, preventive maintenance programs, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health, and safety requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures, confined space practices, contractor safety, and other applicable safe work standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and work order documentation within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Communicate maintenance priorities, equipment status, and operational concerns to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Assist with inventory management of maintenance spare parts and critical replacement components.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal business hours when required.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or trade certification preferred.
  • Seven or more years of industrial maintenance or facilities experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience maintaining facility infrastructure and utility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, boilers, water treatment systems, compressed gases, and building automation controls.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance documentation practices and quality standards commonly used in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance work with contractors, vendors, or cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with safe handling procedures for compressed gas systems and other industrial utilities.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety programs including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, hot work, confined space, and permit-required activities.
  • Experience using CMMS software for preventive maintenance scheduling, work order management, and asset documentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in controlled manufacturing environments requiring specialized protective clothing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and heavier loads with appropriate assistance.
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, elevated locations, and varying environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting highly regulated manufacturing operations such as life sciences, medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, or other quality-driven industries.
  • Experience working with clean manufacturing environments and critical utility systems.
  • Familiarity with enterprise computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
