Job Details
The Plant Cost Accountant is a proactive business partner; providing financial activities and working with the site leadership team, and all departments and levels of employees to drive company growth and initiatives.
What you will do
Standard Costing
Develop and maintain accurate product costs
Audit item costs, costing programs, and systems for accuracy
Ensure rates are appropriate and are kept updated with changes in the business
Coordinate proper cost absorption in inventory valuation
Work with plant to ensure that database of packaging labor and run time information is being updated consistently and accurately.
Prepare routine, special cost and inventory reports, providing data analysis in support of management business decisions.
Inventory Accounting
Responsible for accuracy of all inventory and fixed assets value in the accounting system.
Work closely with warehouse team to ensure they are following basic accounting inventory procedures and following company inventory processing procedures.
Review inventory levels daily/weekly and act to reconcile/resolve.
Coordinate annual cycle count inventory with warehouse team, resolve any issues.
Business Support
Assist Sales Team and Pricing Analyst with proposals for new products and business
Communicate variances and cost explanations to Management Team
Evaluate key performance indicators (KPI's) and communicate issues to Management
Perform cost / benefit analyses for new projects and capital acquisitions
Delivering Financial Results
Record journal entries and accrue for costs in accordance with GAAP
Prepare account reconciliations and budget comparisons
Prepare month-end financial close and reporting
Lead cost budget and forecast as requested.
Identify and estimate potential cost improvement opportunities.
