Job Details
Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive mechanical estimates.
- Perform material take-offs and develop detailed quantity estimates for HVAC piping and duct, plumbing, and process piping systems.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to obtain pricing and ensure accurate cost assessments.
- Analyze project risks, schedule requirements, and constructability to provide value engineering recommendations.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and proposals for submission to clients.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bid documents, and correspondence.
- Communicate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project scope and ensure alignment on project requirements.
- Stay current with industry trends, material costs, and construction techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably with HVAC piping, ductwork, plumbing, and process piping systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Proficiency in estimating software (such as Trimble, Quotesoft, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
