We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Permanent Medical Coder to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you'll be responsible for analyzing and interpreting patient medical records, assigning appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of coding rules and regulations, along with a strong commitment to providing accurate work. This position plays a crucial role in our revenue cycle by ensuring the company is accurately reimbursed for medical services.

Responsibilities:

1. Review and analyze patient medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
3. Review coding for accuracy and completeness prior to submission to billing system.
4. Identify and report any unusual, high, or suspect coding levels.
5. Work closely with the billing team to ensure all bills are satisfied in a timely manner.
6. Consult with physicians and other healthcare providers to clarify missing or inadequate record information and to determine appropriate coding.
7. Provide education to providers regarding coding compliance, documentation requirements, and reimbursement issues.
8. Maintain strict patient and physician confidentiality and follows state, federal, and organizational guidelines for professional ethics.

Qualifications:

1. Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A) required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Ortho, ENT, or General Surgery coding.
3. Proficient in Athena EMR.
4. Knowledge of payer specific requirements and guidelines.
5. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
6. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
7. Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to multi-task.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
10. Commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
11. Ability to adapt to changes in the medical coding field.
12. Experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding required.
13. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity under pressure.
