We are seeking a Mental Health Attorney to join our dynamic team. This position is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about advocating for the rights of individuals with mental health issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing clients in court, advising them on their legal rights, and working closely with other professionals in the mental health field. This role requires a deep understanding of mental health law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle complex and challenging cases with sensitivity and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
1. Represent clients with mental health issues in court, ensuring their rights are protected and their voices are heard.
2. Prepare and draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and pleadings, and present oral arguments in court.
3. Conduct legal research to support case preparation and keep abreast of changes in mental health law.
4. Collaborate with mental health professionals to understand the specific needs and challenges of each client.
5. Provide legal advice to clients, helping them understand their rights and options under the law.
6. Advocate for changes in mental health law and policy to better protect the rights of individuals with mental health issues.
7. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions with clients.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Must be an NY licensed attorney in good standing with at least 5 years of experience in mental health law.
3. Proven experience with motion practice and court appearances.
4. Deep understanding of mental health law and the legal issues facing individuals with mental health issues.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in clear, accessible language.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex cases and make sound legal judgments.
7. Demonstrated commitment to advocating for the rights of individuals with mental health issues.
8. Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients, mental health professionals, and other stakeholders.
9. High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
10. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
11. Ability to work independently and manage a large caseload.
