Job Description
  • As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients
  • You will work as part of a healthcare team, following all policies, procedures, and regulations set forth by the corporation and relevant authorities
  • Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (our RN) or in a treatment room adjacent to an RN
  • Report and document all incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Support the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAI) Activities
  • Assist in meeting Total Area Productivity goals
  • Set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies according to instructions
  • Welcome and inquire about patients' well-being since their last treatment

  • Evaluate vascular access for patency and report any unusual findings
  • Obtain pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and report any difficulties or unusual findings
  • Program individual patients' dialysis machine settings as prescribed
  • Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled

  • Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters
  • Initiate renal replacement treatment according to prescribed orders
  • Collect and label specimens for laboratory testing
  • Evaluate and intervene in intradialytic problems as prescribed or directed


  • Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings
  • Obtain vital signs and perform necessary functions for treatment discontinuation and documentation
  • Evaluate patients' vascular access during treatment and provide necessary intervention
  • Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures
  • Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and apply appropriate dressings

  • Perform and record pre and post-dialysis evaluations, weight, and vital signs
  • Other duties as required
