A bit about us:

We are a 50 bed skilled nursing facility located just outside the Bay Area of California. Our organization provides a care team to our patients, and includes: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Registered Nurses, Speech Language Pathologists, and Registered Dietitians.

In this role, some of the duties of the COTA include:

  • Develop treatment plans with the team
  • Collaborate with the care team, including physicians and practitioners
  • Document the patient’s progress in an EMR system
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Communicate with the care team daily
  • Work with the patient’s family members

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our skilled nursing team in the healthcare industry. This position is permanent and offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, patient-focused environment where you will be able to make a significant impact on patient's lives. Our ideal candidate is someone who is driven, compassionate, and has a deep understanding of patient care in a skilled nursing setting. This role requires a minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in a skilled nursing environment.

Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
2. Provide direct patient care to manage and improve functional independence and physical abilities.
3. Document patient progress and treatment outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as necessary under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
4. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop the best care plans for patients.
5. Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and activities, ensuring they understand the purpose and benefits.
6. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
7. Participate in continuous education and training programs to stay updated on the latest practices and regulations in occupational therapy.

Qualifications:
1. Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
2. Current and valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
3. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a skilled nursing environment.
4. Strong knowledge of skilled care principles, standards, and regulations.
5. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate medical information effectively.
6. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
7. Proficient in electronic medical records and documentation software.
8. Ability to lift and transfer patients as required.
9. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on the latest industry trends and advancements.
10. Exceptional problem-solving skills with a patient-focused approach to care.
11. Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
