Job Details
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
You should have most of the following:
- Handle a caseload of general liability and insurance defense litigation matters
- Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and related litigation documents
- Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written arguments
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
- Manage client reporting, including insurance carriers and corporate clients
- Participate in mediations and arbitrations, with potential courtroom appearances
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervise case progress toward resolution
- Proactively manage deadlines and case strategy
You should have most of the following:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in New York (dual licensure in PA/NJ a plus)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in general liability and insurance defense litigation
- Strong background in civil litigation including discovery, depositions, and motion practice
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and produce high-quality work
- Experience with mediation or arbitration preferred
- Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and take ownership of case strategy
