We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and passionate Operating Room RN to join our dynamic healthcare team. This is a permanent, full-time position where you will be providing critical support in the operating room. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care before, during, and after surgery. This includes both circulating and scrub nurse responsibilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals to deliver top-notch patient care in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Responsibilities:

As an Operating Room RN, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Providing preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care in the operating room.
2. Serving as a circulating nurse, ensuring the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
3. Performing scrub nurse duties, preparing and maintaining sterile surgical fields, assisting surgeons during procedures, and accounting for surgical instruments.
4. Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to plan and execute patient care.
5. Assessing patients' condition before surgery, educating them about the procedure, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
6. Monitoring patients' vital signs during surgery and alerting the surgical team to any changes.
7. Providing postoperative care, including monitoring patients' recovery, changing dressings, and administering medications as directed by the physician.
8. Documenting all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
9. Participating in ongoing training and professional development activities to maintain and enhance nursing skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:

1. A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Operating Room RN, Circulating RN, or Scrub Nurse.
3. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain these certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
4. Excellent critical thinking skills, decision-making skills, and strong attention to detail.
5. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.
6. Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
7. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
8. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and to lift or move patients as necessary.
