Operational Excellence Manager (Continuous Improvement)
Summary:
The Operational Excellence Manager is responsible for developing and deploying our Performance System strategy in a large, complex, or multi-site operation. The individual will provide mentoring, coaching and training as needed to support the use of the continuous improvement methodology and tools such as TPM/Lean/Six Sigma. This position will be responsible for deploying and leading the transformation with a goal of improved safety, quality, cost, productivity, service, and employee engagement.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
At least 3 years of Operations or Continuous Improvement Experience
TPM experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related Technical field preferred
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred
Qualifications:
Experience and passion for introducing new techniques (i.e. change agent)
Strong leadership, communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving mindset
Analytical aptitude – ability to collect and analyze data and think analytically
Ability to influence and drive change
Results oriented with excellent project and time management skills
Business sense – ability to understand how changes will drive the right business results
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Proficiency in data analysis
Minitab preferred
Work Environment:
Varied- from loud, wet factory environments, requiring the use of PPE, to offices and conference rooms.
Travel will be required, including international travel, and travel to remote locations is required at times (appx 15%). Most travel is planned, project based.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deploy the TPS strategy and TPS pillar roadmap across operations. This includes the Leadership, Daily Management Systems, Zero Loss Analytics, EH&S, Continuous Skills Development, Focused Improvement, Daily Team Maintenance, Supply Chain Flow and Quality Excellence Pillars
Establish TPS deployment plans and lead the execution of the plans
Support the development of the Site Master Plan
Lead the development of TPS training material
Own and lead a local pillar and multiple TPS methods and tools within the operation
Own and lead an Enterprise Pillar or be a subject matter expert on TPS methods and tools
Build TPS skills and capabilities
Ensure standardization and proper utilization of TPS across operations
Partner with the various departments and functions in identifying and selecting projects that are aligned to key business priorities
Lead key initiatives and projects to support achievement of the site master plans
Ensure successful kaizen events by ensuring commitment to the process which may include: 1) planning the Kaizen, 2) facilitating the Kaizen, and 3) ensuring the sustainment of the improvements.
Collaborate with Enterprise/Plant TPS Pillar and function owners
Share best practices within and across plants
Provide project management and governance as needed
Act as a change agent, systematically driving use of TPS for continuous improvement and change throughout the operation
Create metric reporting
Ensure SCUBA savings and other KPI targets are achieved
Track and monitor TPS deployment progress and provide regular status updates
