Job Details:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Permanent Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic team in the Medical industry. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about eye care and desires to make a significant impact on the lives of patients. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will be responsible for preparing patients for eye examinations, performing various eye-related clinical functions, and assisting our Ophthalmologists in providing the highest quality eye care. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field and a strong understanding of EMR (Electronic Medical Records), Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, and Ophthalmic Technician skillsets.

Responsibilities:
  • Assisting the Ophthalmologist with patient care by conducting preliminary eye function testing.
  • Gathering patient health history and maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records using EMR.
  • Performing diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, field of vision, and pressure inside the eye.
  • Assisting with procedures like cataract surgery, LASIK eye surgery, and glaucoma treatments.
  • Administering eye medications and instructing patients on the proper technique of instilling eye drops.
  • Cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
  • Ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic by managing patient flow, answering queries, and providing excellent patient care.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or a related role in the Medical industry.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is required.
  • Proficiency in the use of EMR system for patient data management.
  • Strong knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and doctors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, maintain patient confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Detail-oriented with high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
