Job Details
Which tasks will you perform?
Optimizing optical alignment and calibration processes
Developing precision assembly methods for optical components (e.g., Lasers, lenses, mirrors, detectors etc.)
Specifying and qualifying optical test equipment (e.g., interferometers, spectrometers, beam profilers)
Specifying and qualifying optical test equipment (e.g., interferometers, spectrometers, beam profilers)
Diagnosing and resolving issues related to optical performance and alignment
Supporting metrology and inspection of optical components and assemblies
Collaborating with optical design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new designs
Ensure optical assemblies meet performance specifications through rigorous testing and validation
Develop and maintain optical component handling and storage protocols
Lead efforts to reduce optical losses and improve signal-to-noise ratios in production systems
Developing and Improving Production Systems
Process Flow Definition
Equipment & tooling design and selection
Process qualification
Work Instructions & Process documentation
Process Safety enhancements
Suggesting design improvements for manufacturability or other benefit
Production Support
Technical support and training of production personnel including technicians & operators
Provide floor support for production team members and existing production stations
Train and mentor production staff on specific processes and production equipment
Continuous process improvement and development
Use tools from LEAN, Six Sigma, etc. to identify waste and improve safety, yield, throughput, measurement uncertainty, and costs in manufacturing operations
Transfer designs and applications from design engineering into production. Taking slow, manual manufacturing methods and translating these into high-speed, simple, and exact processes for production personnel to execute. Working cross-functionally with other groups to determine and establish acceptable production specifications
Work with R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Production to identify the root cause of problems and implement appropriate solutions to prevent reoccurrence
Create and implement manufacturing lines, stations, and tools in a production environment with complete procedures for production team
Review design drawings for accuracy and manufacturability
Support Quality System and Material Control ERP system improvements
Assist in the development of alternate product designs and materials

What do we expect from you?
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent related education with direct work experience.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in manufacturing with a demonstrated record of achievement in optical manufacturing projects.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical design with a demonstrated record of achievement in constructing tooling and fixtures for opto-electrical assembly.
Experience with complex opto-electrical systems.
Gas phase spectroscopy experience.
Experience with optical systems including lenses, windows, mirrors, alignments, and coatings.
