Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in all phases of construction defect litigation, from pre-litigation through trial or settlement.
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Manage case files, organize and analyze large volumes of construction documents, and maintain document databases.
  • Coordinate and track inspections, site visits, and expert evaluations.
  • Summarize depositions, expert reports, and other key case materials.
  • Conduct legal and factual research related to construction standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Interface with clients, insurance carriers, construction professionals, and expert witnesses.
  • Prepare for mediations, arbitrations, and trials, including compiling exhibits and trial binders.
  • Monitor case deadlines and assist in docket management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of paralegal experience in construction defect litigation.
  • Strong understanding of construction terminology, trades, and building systems.
  • Familiarity with SB800 (if applicable by jurisdiction) and insurance coverage issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
