Job Details
In this role, you'll work closely with attorneys, clients, financial advisors, and Maryland Probate Courts, serving as a trusted resource throughout the estate administration process. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple cases independently while delivering exceptional client service.
What You'll Be Doing
Probate & Estate Administration
Prepare and file probate and estate administration documents in accordance with Maryland law.
Review pleadings and filings to ensure accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
Conduct due diligence and identify issues requiring attorney review.
Coordinate directly with Registers of Wills, Orphans' Courts, and other agencies throughout the administration process.
Case & Financial Management
Identify, gather, and value estate assets while working with financial institutions, appraisers, and other professionals.
Review financial records, organize supporting documentation, and prepare exhibits and summaries.
Maintain detailed estate and trust accounting records for court filings and approvals.
Manage critical deadlines, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation activities.
Client Relations
Serve as a compassionate and professional point of contact for clients and families during sensitive legal matters.
Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, court personnel, lenders, agents, and vendors.
Provide procedural updates and ensure a smooth and efficient client experience.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
3–5 years of probate and estate administration experience, preferably handling complex Maryland estates.
Strong knowledge of Maryland estate and trust laws, including Orphans' Court procedures.
Prior law firm experience, preferably with litigation exposure.
Ability to independently manage cases, deadlines, and filings.
Exceptional drafting, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency with case management systems, e-filing platforms, and legal document management software.
