A bit about us:

We are the State’s leading association dedicated to providing on-site technical assistance and specialized training for rural water and wastewater systems. Our growing backlog of water and wastewater related projects creates an opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that contribute to the development of solutions addressing key water resource issues. The Project Manager will deliver projects that aid water systems primarily located in disadvantaged communities (DACs) throughout the state. DACs often suffer from contaminated and compromised water quality, lacking the training, skills, and expertise needed to secure federal and state funding to improve their water systems. we provides technical assistance and engineering support to help with all stages of project development to improve water quality and supply for small water systems.

Job Details

The Project Manager/Senior Engineer will provide team leadership of the following:

· Conceptual Engineering: Provide conceptual engineering technical assistance to systems needing support for existing conditions and concerns (e.g., regulatory compliance, etc.).

· Preliminary Engineering and Design: Provide preliminary engineering and design technical assistance. This may include assistance with design schematics and layouts; base mapping, ROW, easement and permitting assistance, coordination with sub consultants in the areas of environmental, survey, geotechnical studies, hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, etc.

· Needs assessments, systems evaluations, preliminary engineering, technical memorandums; and full design of plans, specifications, and bidding and contracting documents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Travel for extended periods of time throughout the state by car or airplane

· Ability to lift 20lbs or less

· Sitting, standing or walking for long periods of time

· Use of office equipment, i.e., computers, fax, copiers, phone equipment, etc.

· Hearing and vision within normal ranges with or without correction

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· 9+ years’ minimum experience with water and wastewater engineering related projects

· Licensed California Professional Engineer

· Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering

· Strong attention to detail

· Must possess and maintain a CA Driver’s License

· Proficient in MS Office Suite and Adobe

· Computer, verbal, project management skills

· Strong technical writing and editing ability

· Good oral and online communication

· Teamwork and problem-solving abilities

· Ability to achieve priorities and meet deadlines

· Ability to adapt, change, and learn new skills rapidly and respond well to a variety of personalities.

· Must be passionate about maintaining and enhancing client relationships

· Candidates must be able to work independently and in a team environment and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and counterparties.

· Knowledge of engineering design and construction practices

· Read and understand codes and regulations, parcel and subdivision maps, construction improvement plans, and specifications.

· Ability to travel to off-site work locations depending on job assignments.

· Experience with AutoCad, Bluebeam, Arc GIS, water modeling software, is not required but preferred.

TYPICAL DUTIES

· Manage complex engineering and planning work for clients

· Perform calculations and analysis

· Preparation of plans, specifications, preliminary engineering reports for water and/or wastewater projects

· Engages in staff development and mentoring of staff/team members

· Oversee the overall quality of project deliverables

· Lead project teams to provide successful projects that meet client needs

· Be the primary point of contact on projects

· Meet deadlines and track project budgets efficiently

· Prepare records, reports, and correspondence

· Research and project development

· Prepare cost estimates

· Create, update, and prepare maps, figures, plans, profiles and detailed drawings

· Technical writing

· QA/QC review of plans, specifications, preliminary engineering reports, etc.

· Fosters and maintains one on one relationships with clients.
