While a portable book of business is certainly a plus, it is not required for this role. What matters most is the ability to oversee a high-quality practice and serve as a steady, strategic leader for our Chicago-based team.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of our Chicago office’s litigation practice

Supervise associates and support staff; ensure deadlines, court filings, and case strategies are executed efficiently

Serve as primary contact on high-value general liability matters

Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and cultivate new ones

Actively mentor junior attorneys and foster a collaborative and positive work environment

Delegate work effectively while maintaining oversight of case progress and strategy

Work closely with leadership in the main office; no administrative obligations regarding lease/rent

Represent clients in depositions, court appearances, mediations, and occasional travel (approx. 20-30 days per year)

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

A minimum of 7 years of civil litigation defense experience

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a litigation team

A reputation for high-quality work and client service

A strong presence and ability to develop relationships both within and outside the firm

A positive, team-first mindset with the ability to mentor and uplift others
