Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Payroll Accountant, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks, including but not limited to:

1. Processing payroll for all employees, including calculating hours worked, pay rates, deductions, and bonuses.
2. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
3. Preparing and submitting reports detailing payroll account activity, including wages, deductions, and taxes.
4. Using accounting software, such as Sage 300, to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers, and receipts.
5. Reviewing and managing employment contracts to ensure accurate payroll processing.
6. Handling payroll taxes and filing all necessary paperwork on time.
7. Assisting in audits and the preparation of financial statements.
8. Administering 401k contributions and distributions.
9. Managing ACH transactions and ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
10. Collaborating with the Human Resources department to ensure correct employee data.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, but not required.
2. 4+ years of experience in payroll management experience.
3. Proficient in payroll software, particularly Sage 300, and other accounting software.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of payroll taxes, employment contracts, ACH, payroll management, and 401k administration.
5. Familiarity with human resources procedures.
6. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
7. High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
8. Exceptional attention to detail.
9. Ability to handle confidential information.
10. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
