A bit about us:

Requirements:
  • Current and valid Tennessee Pharmacy license
  • Must be prepared to rotate on-call, including weekends
  • Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital to respond to on-call needs when necessary

Preferred:
  • Hospital Pharmacy experience
  • Sterile compounding experience
  • Familiar with USP regulations
  • Familiar with DEA rules and regulations
  • Antibiotic stewardship experience
  • Meditech and Omnicell experience

Minimum Education:
  • Graduate of a Program in Discipline
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • BS in Pharmacy required
  • Graduate of Pharmacy Schools with Pharm.D is preferred

Required Skills:
  • Requires critical thinking skills
  • Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Required Certifications:
  • AHA BLS (preferred)

Required Licenses:
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Tennessee

Responsibilities:
  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently in accordance with prescription orders and hospital policies
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of medications by providing drug information to healthcare professionals and patients
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and medication therapy outcomes
  • Oversee the sterile compounding of medications, ensuring compliance with USP regulations
  • Maintain accurate medication records and inventory control
  • Participate in medication therapy management and antibiotic stewardship programs
  • Provide education and counseling to patients on proper medication use and potential side effects
  • Monitor patient medication therapy for effectiveness and safety, making appropriate recommendations or interventions as needed
  • Assist in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in pharmacy practice and regulations

Qualifications:
  • Current and valid Tennessee Pharmacy license
  • 5+ years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting
  • Experience with sterile compounding and familiarity with USP regulations
  • Familiarity with DEA rules and regulations
  • Proficiency with Meditech and Omnicell systems
  • Graduate of a Program in Discipline
  • Antibiotic stewardship experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required
  • Graduate of Pharmacy Schools with Pharm.D is preferred
  • Strong critical thinking skills and decisive judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
