Are you a seasoned Physical Therapist with a passion for helping others? Are you looking for a new and rewarding role where you can make a significant impact? We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent Physical Therapist to join our dynamic Acute Care team in an oncology setting. This is a full-time position, requiring you to work with 6 to 10 patients per day. You will be working with a team of OTs, PTs, and SLPs in a high-energy environment where your expertise will be put to good use in helping patients recover and regain their strength and mobility.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Physical Therapist in our Acute Care team, you will:
1. Evaluate patients' physical conditions and needs, developing personalized treatment plans to help them recover from injuries, surgeries, illnesses, or manage chronic conditions.
2. Apply a variety of therapeutic techniques such as heat, cold, massage, electrical stimulation, therapeutic exercises, and functional training.
3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
4. Monitor and document patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary and communicating with patients and their families about their progress and any changes in their treatment.
5. Educate patients and their families about their conditions and teach them exercises and techniques to help manage their conditions at home.
6. Work closely with oncology patients, helping them to manage the physical challenges associated with their treatment and recovery.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in physical therapy and participate in professional development activities.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program.
2. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist, preferably in an acute care setting.
3. Current and valid PT licensure in the state of practice.
4. Experience working with oncology patients is highly desirable.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
7. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
8. The physical stamina to work on your feet for most of the day and to lift or move patients as necessary.
9. A commitment to patient-centered care and to maintaining the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.
